It’s that time of year again…the end of it! A brand new year always brings new hope, and if you’re like us, you’re counting on 2023 to bring good things. So, why not celebrate this momentous flip of the calendar? If you’re looking at how to celebrate New Year’s Eve in Calgary, we’ve got several ideas for you below.
Celebrate New Year’s Eve in Calgary With a Variety of Events!
Get the Red Carpet Treatment (Literally) at This New Year’s Eve Dinner and Dance Party
Start 2023 off right by celebrating at one of Calgary’s classiest New Year’s Eve events. The New Year’s Eve Dinner and Dance party hosted by Lounge XVIII promises to be a night to remember! Enjoy celebrity treatment (including a red carpet), a live DJ, delicious food and flowing champagne at one of Calgary’s coolest bars.
Begin your night at 7:30 pm with a five-course dinner prepared by Lounge XVIII’s executive chef. After 9:30 pm, the dance floor opens, and the party really begins. Tickets are available (starting at $35) for both the dinner and party or just the party. Dinner tickets include a meal with a cocktail or glass of wine, waterpipe specials, champagne toast, party favours, photo booth souvenirs and entry into Lounge XVIII. Party tickets include everything listed above, with the exception of dinner, drink and waterpipe specials.
Celebrate New Year’s Eve in Calgary at the Deerfoot Inn Casino With 3 Different Events
You’ve got a choice of fabulous options at the Deerfoot Inn Casino, as they are celebrating New Year’s Eve in Calgary with 3 ultra-special events. Starting in the Chrome Showroom, Canadian rock legends Trooper will delight fans young and old with classic hits from their 10 studio albums. Doors open at 10:00 pm, and the show starts at 11:00 pm.
If you’d rather be the one holding the microphone, head over to the Cactus Lounge for the New Year’s Eve Karaoke Show, starting at 9:00 pm and going until 2:00 am. Tickets can be purchased on the Deerfoot Inn Casino website and are only $10 and include party favours.
Finally, dance your way into the new year in the Sundance Ballroom at the New Year’s Eve 80’s Dance Party. Dust off your 80s duds and party like it’s 1989 with live music courtesy of DJ Silly Wrabbit. Get your tickets for just $35. Doors open at 9:30 pm on December 31st.
Back in the NYE Groove!
Ring in 2023 while getting your groove on at the Sheraton Cavalier Hotel. Be sure to come dressed in your best groovy ’60s costumes and get ready to party. Local entertainers will help you dance late into the night with DJ Mekanix and a silent auction throughout the evening with proceeds going towards the Kidney March.
The bar opens at 5:30 pm, dinner is at 7 pm, and the dancing starts at 9 pm. And of course, there will be a champagne toast at midnight. Best of all, book a room at the Sheraton Cavalier for the evening, and you won’t have to worry about driving home! Tickets are $95 per person or $700 for a table of 8 (this does not include alcohol). Let’s Get Fizzy New Year’s Eve Party at Craft Beer Market
Craft Beer Market is offering two ways to celebrate New Year’s Eve in Calgary. Join them at either location (downtown, or Southcentre) for a 4-course dinner and countdown party starting at 7:00 pm on December 31. Dinner guests will be greeted with a special welcome drink followed by a delicious 4-course meal.
Later on, guests will ring in the new year by dancing the night away at their countdown party! Enjoy special party favours, delicious cocktails and Craft’s signature beer all night. Dinner and countdown tickets start at $90, with seating available between 7 and 8:30 pm. If you just want to come to the countdown party, tickets can be purchased for $20 and include a welcome drink and party favours.
A Luminous New Year’s Eve at Bella Concert Hall
For years, the angelic Luminous Voices have been softly welcoming the new year with original renditions of your favourite artists and composers. A long-standing favourite of all the New Year’s Eve events, the concert series went on a brief hiatus during the pandemic. Now, they’re back and ready to dazzle you with a collection of unaccompanied choral gems spanning the last two years.
This special event will be taking place at the Bella Concert Hall stage at Mount Royal University, with tickets starting at just $36.50. Concert seating will begin shortly before 7:30 pm. Afterwards, peacefully ring in the new year while enjoying decadent chocolates and sparkling wine.
New Year’s Eve Comedy, Dinner, and Dance Extravaganza
The FunnyFest Calgary Comedy Festival Society invites you to head down to the Clarion Hotel and Conference Centre and laugh your way into the new year. For $95, enjoy the New Year’s Eve Comedy, Dinner, and Dance Extravaganza plus a sprawling dinner buffet, party favours, and a very funny show with 3 headlining comedians: Sean Lecomber, Stu Hughes and Joe King.
Afterwards, enjoy live music until the New Year’s Eve countdown with complimentary sparkling wine. Plus, there are plenty of prizes to be won all night long, including a $100 gift certificate to the 22nd annual FunnyFest Calgary Comedy Festival! The party doesn’t stop after the clock strikes midnight; dance the night away until 2:00 am. Doors open at 6:00 pm for dinner.
Family Fun at the Rec Room New Year’s Eve Bash
Calgary’s favourite party place is throwing one of the coolest New Year’s Eve parties in Alberta, and everyone’s invited to join in all the fun. Starting at 9:00 pm, guests of the Rec Room can enjoy 5 hours of free gameplay plus a Prosecco toast at midnight, with non-alcoholic options available for just $25. Early Access VIP tickets are available as well for $35 and include a special house-made cocktail.
Live entertainment includes a DJ and a photo booth. This family-friendly event is open for partygoers of all ages, but a valid ID is required for the Prosecco toast.
Stay Warm with Holiday Tea at Heritage Park
Enjoy a low-key New Year’s Eve day, by sipping a warm cup of tea or apple cider and enjoying some fresh baking courtesy of the Alberta Bakery at the Famous 5 Centre of Canadian Women in Heritage Park Calgary. The annual Holiday Tea has extended its dates just in time for New Year’s Eve to include December 31.
Tickets are $40 for general admission or $28 for children and include admission to Gasoline Alley Museum and a coupon for the Haskayne Mercantile Block stores in Heritage Town Square. Seatings are available at 11:00 am, 11:30 am, 1:00 pm and 1:30 pm.
Calgary Flames Hockey
How about a little hockey and a lot of partying? The Calgary Flames host the Vancouver Canucks on New Year’s Eve at the Scotiabank Saddledome. The game starts at 8 pm, and 30 minutes afterward, the Telus Club and Dutton’s Original 16 Lounge will be transformed into a rockin’ party. Wilder Institute ZOOLIGHTS: Zoo Year’s Eve at the Calgary Zoo
There’s something special planned for New Year’s Eve at the Calgary Zoo, and availability is going fast. For Zoo Year’s Eve, the popular snow globes are already booked up, but you can still plan to enjoy the Garden of Lights, a special light show in lieu of midnight fireworks on the Zoo Bridge, and multiple countdowns to suit everyone’s bedtime!
ZOOLIGHTS and ZOOLIGHTS Late Night (for 18+) also take place on December 31 between 5:00 pm and 12:00 am, with the family-friendly version wrapping up at 9:00 pm. Doors to ZOOLIGHTS Late Night close at 11:00 pm. A big bonus: Proceeds benefit wildlife conservation at the Calgary Zoo.
New Year’s Eve 2023 – Moulin Rouge Dinner, Show and Dance at Pure Casino Calgary
For the second year in a row, Pure Casino is pleased to bring Moulin Rouge to the stage for their special New Year’s Eve dinner, show, and what’s sure to be one of the raciest dance parties this New Year’s Eve. Presented by Le Cirque De La Nuit, the show starts at 8:00 pm. Tickets start at $100 and include a three-course dinner. After the show, dance the night away until the midnight countdown.
Dance It Up at the Palace Theatre
This New Year’s Eve, party with 90.3 AMP radio as they welcome the new year with live performances by Drum N DJ, featuring Brett Jones & DJ Kav, and DJ AL V at the Palace Theatre. Start your night at 9:00 pm and stay until last call – this is your chance to let go of your inhibitions and leave 2022 on the dance floor! Tickets start at $30.
Sample Several of Calgary’s New Year’s Eve Celebrations
If you don’t want to commit to any one event, you can mix it up by sampling a variety of Calgary attractions! Start your early evening with dinner, and book a reservation at one of many amazing Calgary restaurants (we suggest River Café or Model Milk). After dinner, make your way over to Olympic Plaza for ice skating, right in the heart of downtown Calgary. From there, head to the Calgary Tower for a dazzling midnight New Year’s Eve fireworks display, which is an annual tradition! Calgary mayor Jyoti Gondek will be in attendance along with a local Indigenous elder.
